Sometimes a song will just hit you and you will find you have some connection to it, even if the connection isn’t quite made clear at first. Then the song will just chime though you’re head like a rhythmic melody sent from the heavens.

Currently I have rediscovered Bat For Lashes and her song Glass from her 2009 album Two Suns, although I have listened to the song more times then I can think of since it’s release tonight it just hit me different… weather the songs meaning behind the poetic lyrics have suddenly become clear, or I have found some hidden meaning behind them that means something to me specifically I am unsure as of yet but it compelled me to write this down.

Life? Death? When and where do they really begin? One can philosophize until they find death, but in return did they really truly find life? When does life truly begin? Does it start upon leaving the womb with that first breath of air? Or does it start when you find or figure out who you are and what you want? Life starts for many people in different ways.

talking to you,
my heard begins to beat faster and faster...
what is this... my stomach feels like a million butterflies trying to escape...
doesn't stop, wont go away... I cant explain.
you leave, my heart begins to slow, and the butterflies have gone away...
but this new feeling, this new hole...
I don't think I wanted you to go away...
waiting, and waiting until the next day when we talk and the butterflies return...

I feel happy... is that me falling in love?

The Moon glistened off the coble stones of the old London streets as one Londoner, a girl, walked across the street her black and white sequined sandals echoing down the empty street. Her hair long and smooth like silk danced in the breeze, the brown matching with her Black pea-coat. She slowed well in the middle of the street, almost to a stop and looked behind her, there was nothing but she had the strong feeling she was being watched. She continued across the street still feeling uneasy she pulled out her iPhone and started dialling, her nails shined off the light of the phone.

“Come one pick up, pick up.”

She whispered into the phone.

No one answered, so she kept walking. Picking up her pace she walked onto the main street and felt some relief being surrounded by more people somehow made the feeling of being followed subside. Walking up too the curb of the street she looked out onto the midnight traffic looking for a Taxi. Seeing one coming up the street she hailed it and got in.

“Where to?” asked the Taxi driver.

“Cremorne Rd, Kensington, please”

She replied.

Stepping into the back of the cab she closed the door and noticed a smell like a mix of worldly spices, making her feel a little queasy. Looking at the little objects the taxi’s driver used to personalize his car, around his nametag (which she read his name Aulizar) where pictures of a woman and two small children, she assumed they where his wife and kids. Along the bottom of the sun visors where little red dangles and in the windshield he had placed a bobble head of the Queen.

The whole ride back to her home amongst the Cornwall Mansions she was silent just staring at the city lights moving past her., thinking about the many things running through her head. What is going on? Why have I felt like I was being followed… it’s been a few weeks now and the same feeling whenever I’m alone… or am I alone? Not knowing what to do or if she should even tell anyone she brushed it off and continued to stare out the windows. The car slowed and stopped at the end of the street

“That will be £15.00”

The young woman reached into her pocked and took out a £20.00 and handed it to the taxi driver. He started to pull out her change but she opened the door and got out closing the door.

“Hey, you forgot you’re change!”

He yelled out the window at her.

She stopped to a second and without looking back said.

“Just keep it, I don’t need it.”

Walking down the street she listened as the taxi drove away. She walked about half way down the street before turning and walking up too a grand city mansion. The grand home raised several stories above the street and was made of red brick and had many huge windows all filled with little pains of diamond shaped glass. There was a cobbled path leading up to the massive double door entrance. Looking at the stately manor she walked up the path and opened the doors and stepped into the foyer of the home, it was a large room with a round stair case curving up the left side of the room where a Large Crystal chandelier hung covering the room in a brilliant white light.

“Hello who’s there?”

A voice came from a room off to the left.

“It’s just me Clara”

She replied as an older woman walked into the foyer wearing a maid’s uniform.

“Oh hello maim, I thought you where back already.”

“No I was working late. You wouldn’t mind making me a cup of tea would you?

“No maim, and where will you be having it?”

“In the Library”

Clara nodded her head and started to walk away.

“Thank you Clara”

“Oh it’s nothing madam”

She replied well smiling.

Walking under the Staircase and into the room in front of her, it was lined with bookshelves from floor to ceiling, in the centre of the room was a large dome, a brass and gold plated chandeliers where right under a large and intricate wooden Desk. Walking over to the big chair that sat behind the desk she sat and started looking through the piles of books that lay around, the books where a range of topics, Philosophy, Science, History, Mysticism, ext.

Looking though the many volumes of classic literature, the lights flickered and she was suddenly filled with the feeling of being watched. She tried to brush off the feeling and kept reading, but the feeling was so strong. Turning she expecting to see someone standing there but all that looked back at her was her reflection in a large antique mirror, staring at her reflection she wiped the small beads of sweat off her forehead.

Footsteps sounded from the foyer, slowly moving closer. Taking her gaze off the mirror she looked at the room’s entrance expecting to see a stranger walk in.

Clara turned the Corner and entered the Large Library seeing her mistress looking at her with a strange look she asked,

“Are you alright madam?”

“Was there someone else in the house?”

“No madam? We are the only one’s here the rest of the house keep have gone home for the night.”

Clara walked up too the desk and set the tray of tea she carried in.

“Will that be all?”

“Yes, I think so”

With that Clara bowed and turned.

“I will be turning in then madam”

Clara walked out of the room leaving her mistress alone.

The sun reached high in the sky when it glistened through the stained glass window in her bedroom, deep blues, reds and greens washed over her bed. Pulling her eyes tight trying to keep the light out she stretched and yawned while wiping the sleep form her eyes. Crawling out of bed she looked around the bright room, wondering if today would be different from the rest.

Walking down the stairs she saw Clara looking up at her.

“Good morning Clara”

Clara smiled and replied

“Afternoon Madame, you slept through the morning”

“Oh, I hadn’t realized. So I guess I don’t get any breakfast?”

Clara started heading down the stairs.

“Yes ma’am I can still get you some if that’s what you would like to eat.”

Like the Moss covered boat you rot,

Return to that place. The ground, Green

Smells of the sea, where are we?

The Carnival, only leaves of emeralds

Flutter where children played. Where we played.

Only the wind, dancing through the plastic horses,

Giving life? No illusions of a time passed.

When we where young. Paint peeling off the child hood memories.

Summer’s gone, will I ever go back?

Put the pieces together.

Find the love, fun, joy.

Return to that summer.
